Richard “Rich” Roy Vowles, 59, of Mesa, Arizona entered into Heaven on March 4, 2019 peacefully in his home. Rich was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Margaret (Barth) and William Hodges, the oldest of three children, on January 24, 1960. Margaret remarried Ernest Vowles, who adopted all three children and raised them as his own. At the age of 6, Rich and his family relocated to Arizona so his father could start a new career. Rich was raised with his two sisters, who looked over him like a hawk. After completing high school, Rich joined the Army. A representative of the Army told his parents that his mathematics score was the highest ever achieved. Rich loved being in the Army. He was stationed in Germany, and due to his high entry scores was placed in a specialized position in “Missile Maintenance”. After his tour was complete, Rich returned to Arizona to be near his family and where he found a new passion. Rich found that he had a “green thumb” and began a beautiful garden. Rich also loved his cats, as did his mother and sisters. Rich leaves behind his mother Margaret; sisters Sharon (David) English and Donna (Donald) Monson; His favorite niece Rachel Rodgers and his favorite nephew Steven Rodgers.
Rich is predeceased by his father Ernest.
A committal service is scheduled at the Peoria Presbyterian Church located 10236 N 83rd Ave., Peoria Arizona 85345 on April 7, 2019 at 1030am following regular church services.
