Glendale Community College is a comprehensive community college offering transfer and general education for articulation to four-year institutions, 41 Associates degrees, 61 certificate programs, and a range of non-degree offerings, all available to students in traditional, online and hybrid formats to meet the needs of the diverse community it serves. Well known programs include fire science safety, nursing, automotive repair and technology, law enforcement, CISCO networking and Cybersecurity. With dedicated and passionate faculty and staff focused on academic excellence and student success, GCC is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution, and a designated Veteran Supportive Campus and Military Friendly School. Deeply embedded in the community with strong business and industry relationships, the college has two campuses and enrolls approximately 26,000 students annually, and employs approximately 1,000 faculty, staff, and administrators with an operational budget of $83 million.
Founded in 1965, Glendale Community College celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015. The Public Safety Science and Life Sciences buildings incorporate innovative, hands-on teaching facilities, collaborative environments and LEED-certified design. The main campus is home to the Chrysler Employee Training Center and the Arizona Procurement Technical Assistance Center, partnerships that contribute to the economic vitality of Glendale and Maricopa County. The main campus is also home to the recently opened Early Childhood Learning Center, a preschool partnership with the Peoria Unified School District, which contributes to educational support for GCC students and community members. Student life is vibrant at Glendale Community College with over 50 student clubs and 16 different men’s and women’s athletic teams such as: basketball, baseball, track and field, soccer and volleyball. The Glendale Gaucho mascot is honored by championship teams, students and college alumni alike. With a focus on sustainability and the global stewardship of resources, strategic growth and advancing technology, GCC will continue its commitment to student success.
