Barcelona Middle School issued the following announcement on February 12.
Cordova Elementary School's National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) hosted a 5k Heart Run/Walk last Thursday raising funds for their school and creating healthy activities for their peers. These amazing NJHS students thought of everything. They were scattered along the course to cheer the participants on with inspirational posters that they created, music was playing to keep the kids motivated and moving, and there were 2 water stations set up for the students to stay hydrated. The students ran/walked a full 12 laps to complete the course. A few kids were even able to run the entire 5k, with Raul Navarro Salazar (5th grade) finishing first. The students and teachers had a blast.
A special thank you to our Alhambra Educators and District Wellness Champions for making this amazing event happen: Julianne Savlov, Sunny Martin, Michael Eastman, Brenda Ferrera, and Krystle Orioke.
